Al Gore ‘disappointed’ Scott Morrison failed to increase Australia’s 2030 emissions target

Former US Vice President Al Gore says he is ‘disappointed’ at Australia’ s failure to upgrade a key emissions cuts target, and urges the country to do more to combat climate change.

Co-Chairman Alok Sharma told Guardian Australia the countries will have to increase their current commitments, adding: “Over the coming year, the UK presidency will work hard to drive even greater ambition on the delivery of the Glasgow climate pact to lead the fight against climate change.”

The climate activist also critiqued the country for not keeping to a promise for reducing methane emissions agreed in the margins of the Glasgow climate summit.
