Australia’s prime minister, Scott Morrison, is about to announce cabinet changes after an outraged colleague was promoted to deputy prime minister on Monday.
New deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce sarcastically described Mr Joyce as his ‘biggest supporter’ Anthony Albanese, his first backtracking as deputy prime minister since Michael McCormack was unseated the previous day, as the pair made their appearance in parliament on Tuesday.
Morrissey, who is in quarantine at The Lodge, the prime minister’s official residence in Canberra, following last week’s European trip, talked the matter up with Mr Joyce the night before about a new coalition programme outlining the Nationals “political demands.
