Authorities issued evacuation orders for residents of the canyon including Arroyo Hondo, Tajiguas, and Arroyo Quemada.
The fire was burning eastward Saturday near the trail of the 2016 Sherpa Fire.

#Alisal Fire – UPDATE – 7 A.M. briefing. Gusty winds continued overnight, pushing the fire up to 6,000 acres, with 0% containment. There still are 100-120 structures threatened. Hopefully, lesser winds will allow air support to work the fire today. 600 FF assigned to the fire. pic.twitter.com/749Q6jXTP1

#Alisal Fire -A smoke column builds in the distance behind former President Ronald Reagan’s Rancho del Cielo in Santa Barbara County. The fire was several miles from the ranch, which has good defensible space, and several USFS engines were arriving to provide structure protection. pic.twitter.com/2fZQM9ip0s
