A new report from The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has been issued calling for industrialized countries to take immediate action to decarbonize their economy, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said on Monday.

The Minister for the Environment went on to say that India, under the visionary direction of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has taken many steps to address the global challenge of climate change, and is on track to decouple its emissions from economic growth.

The sixth assessment report, Climate Change 2021: The Physical Science, was published today by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Several Indian researchers were in charge of work on the report.

The IPCC compiled comprehensive assessment reports for assessing a global climate condition

The developed world has attained far more than its fair share of the global carbon budget.

The future scenarios mentioned, based on carbon emissions reductions, exceed the stricter of 1.5 thresholds established in the 1.5 Paris climate agreement.

The report warns that monsoon rains are set to increase across all areas of forecast scenarios.
