Snowstorm warnings for Sunday were issued for 19 states, forecasting up to 20 inches of snow in some parts and travel delays in some parts of the state.
The NWS issued a winter storm and ice storm warning for the storm while as many as 15 inches were forecast to occur in Newland, North Carolina.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flurry of alerts early Sunday morning and heavy snow, ice formation and gusty winds are likely in Hurricane Izzy.
With major power outages expected to strike the region, authorities asked people to use only gas-fired generators and outdoor barbeques to avoid the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
