Sinking Tuvalu bemoans Glasgow Coal Pact

While world leaders and negotiators hail the Glasgow climate pact as a good compromise that keeps an important temperature limit, many scientists are questioning what planet these politicians view.

The Foreign Minister of Tuvalu, Simon Kofe claimed the summit pact sealed on Saturday was intended to call for a withdrawal from coal generation, not a removal of coal. This late transformation was a step forward as a result of the coal-dependent India and China.

The optimists pointed to many agreements coming out of Glasgow, including a U.S.-China agreement to cooperate more to reduce emissions this decade, and to separate, multinational agreements aimed at methane emissions and coal-fired.
