“Critical: State of emergency declared because of rising wildfires in B.C.

“We are at a critical juncture,” Minister for Public Security Mike Farnworth, told a press conference.

The ruling authorizes authorities to organize mass evacuations and provide emergency shelter to evacuees, he added.

More than 5,700 people voiced concern on Tuesday about the county’s evacuation order, more than double the number of people living on the ground, and more than 32.000 people were on alert during the wildfire’s raging aftermath.

About 32.000 other residents were put on high alert.

Cliff Chapman, chief fire officer of BC, said 3.000 km (3.300 miles) of properties had already been set on fire.

After a scorching heat wave at the end of June, which experts have linked to climate change, fires have raged for several weeks in western Canada and on American west coasts.

Forest fires have scorched more than 3.000 square miles of land by now, roughly 2.000 square kilometers more than the 10-year average for that season.
