The snow at Kilimanjaro is a truly iconic place.
Across Africa, there are only three glacial mountains, according to a recent report from the World Meteorological Organization and other agencies.
Snow on peaks in tropical east Africa, about the same as Kenya after which Kenya is known in Uganda and neighboring Rwenzori Mountains, may also vanish, the country’s meteo service said.
Extremely poor are people living on less than 1.5 US dollars a day, according to the report coordinated by the World Meteorological Organisation.
Petteri Taalas, Secretary General of the World Meteorological Group (WMO) said in his preface to the report:
That fact has not escaped the report’s authors.
This can take two or two% of the Gross Domestic Product.
