Canadians’ health under threat as climate change drives more heat waves and fires

A new report investigating the health impacts of climate change says that more Canadians than ever are exposed to major health risks from heatwaves and wildfires, prompting Doctors to warn that we need to do more to adapt to the reality of “a warmer planet.”

The annual Lancet study is examining more than three dozen markers measuring the health impacts of climate change across the world.

“This year we saw people suffering intense heat waves, deadly floods and wildfires,”Marina Romanello

‘This year we’ ve seen people caught up in severe heatwaves, deadly flooding and forest fires,’ said lead author Marina Romanello.

‘So how are we going to get each other through these heat waves and these wildfire episodes in a way that’s as healthy as possible?’
