Jennifer Morgan, Head of Environmental Organisation Greenpeace International is appointed new Climate Representative of Germany
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has enlisted the chief of Greenpeace International, American Jennifer Morgan, to take on the role of Baerbock for Greens and for the post of Special Representative for International Climate Policy, according to reports issued on Tuesday.
It is speculated that Morgan may play a leading role in Germany’s efforts to curb global warming on the international stage – especially as she chairs the G7 group of global leaders.
Morgan’s promotion is the latest in a series of hires by Green government ministers set to strengthen the government’s climate credentials.
Baerbock of the Greens would present Morgan to the media on Wednesday after the nomination of foreign minister Annalena Baerbock was approved by the cabinet, sources told Reuters, confirming a report given by Der Spiegel magazine.
Morgan is head of Greenpeace International.
