Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has warned before a major global conference that world leaders will be long thinking about Australia’s climate change policy.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison is expected to arrive in Glasgow for COP26 talks starting on Monday, after spending the weekend in Rome with world leaders attending the G20 summit.

Morrison’s climate plan includes a “projection” to cut emissions by 35% by 2030, but modelling the 2050 target is not yet complete.

In an interview with AAP, Mr Albanese said the delay in setting the mid-century goal could have a knock-on effect on international relations.

Mr Morrison is banking on an incumbent who has preyed upon the Government’s worst-affected by a pandemic to give him a second term in office.

The Lib Dem leader accused the opposition of imposing taxes and taxes to lower emissions.
