In Kern County, a bushfire probably caused by lightning but burning close to Interstate 5 extended to 2.300 acres and was 20 percent contained by Thursday morning, officers said.
The Thunder Blaze was 10% contained by 6 p.m., Kern County fire officials said.
The fire broke out southwest of Freeway 5 and Edmonston Pumping Plant Road near Grapevine, fire department officials said.

Authorities consider it ‘highly probable’ that lightning started the fire, but the official cause is being investigated, said Capt. Andrew Freeborn, a spokesman for Kern County firefighters.
