Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Harry Clark said major flooding was expected along the Logan River and warned that levels might be similar to Cyclone Debbie’s 2017.

Brisbane City Council has also developed a flood search tool that will allow people to check if their suburbs are likely to suffer flooding.

Ms Palaszczuk urged those living in flood-prone areas that were not evacuated to consider their safety plans in the event that they are forced to abandon their homes.

In the southeast, 1.040 people were in evacuation centers, including 550 in Gympie, while Wivenhoe Dam was draining water to make sure there was adequate capacity for flooding.
