Boris Johnson lashed the world’s leading economies today as the Prime Minister accused them of not doing ‘nowhere near enough’ to fight climate change

Boris Johnson has told world leaders that the Prime Minister is ‘increasingly frustrated’ that pledges to tackle climate change ‘far from being adequate ‘.

The Prime Minister warned at a meeting of the United Nations in New York that the gap between what developed countries had promised and what they really delivered remains “vast”

The comments came as the UK stands to host the UN’s Copenhagen climate summit next year.

He urged industrialised countries to redouble their efforts to keep a key funding promise in support of developing countries, for which he can only make good ‘six out of 10’ opportunities in advance of the Cop26 climate summit in the UK in November.

As chairman of the climate conference on Monday, Johnson pointed out that ‘everyone nods and we all agree that something must be done’

‘Yet I confess I’m increasingly frustrated that the “something’ that many of you have been advocating doesn’t go far enough,’he said.
