Emergency weather alerts sent over the cell phone network should be better at ensuring they reach the right people at the right time, Environment Minister Steven Guilbeauty said Wednesday.
The Minister argues that the greatest difficulty is to have those warnings transmitted when people must exercise caution without them being ignored.
He said part of the talk is raising public awareness about emergencies as Severe Weather is gaining popularity across Canada.
Environment Canada issued a warning via its public mobile network on Saturday as the storm swept into central Ontario with winds exceeding 130 kilometres per hour.
