Nicola Sturgeon said small nations “actions” were important in tackling climate change in her Ted Talk as Glasgow prepares for Copenhagen.

In a Ted Talk in Edinburgh on Wednesday the Prime Minister again refused to express opposition to the development of an oil field near Shetland, which has been a contentious issue both with politicians and environmentalists.

Miss Sturgeon stressed the issue of shutting down oil and gas supplies completely in the short term could lead to surging imports and economic trouble through mass redundancies.

Sturgeon also repeatedly urged the government to re-evaluate licenses to produce oil and gas in the North Sea in light of the current threat posed by climate change.

The First Minister further stressed the importance of small countries contributing to the fight against climate change.
