State fire investigators are investigating what precipitated a rare fire in Big Sur in January, authorities said Tuesday.
Colorado’s fire was 45% contained on Tuesday, as California’s Department of Forestry and Fire Services, or Cal Fire, announced.
It erupted Friday night when powerful, dry offshore winds hit.
California An additional round of Santa Ana winds blowing down Southern California’s Santa Ana Mountains is expected to strike into the mountain and valley communities of L.A., Ventura and Orange counties as well as the Inland Empire during Tuesday night’s rainbow.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the fire department specified that the arson attack occurred on an apartment building and that it is investigating if residents had a fire licence.
The fire, known as the Colorado Fire, broke out in Palo Colorado Canyon around 5pm on Friday, according to Cal Fire.
Since then the winds have settled down slightly and changed direction.
By Tuesday night, the fire had been 45% contained, and was spread over roughly 200 acres (700 hectares), the Cal Fire Department confirmed.
