(MENAFN) The United Nations has welcomed Turkey’s endorsement of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change as a step that will contribute to the global efforts to tackle climate change.
The parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Convention on Climate Change agreed at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris on 12 December 2015 to fight climate change and to achieve a sustainable low-carbon future.
Dujarric ‘s comments came after all political parties in Turkey ‘s parliament voted yes on the deal.
According to the state news agency Anadolu, the UN welcomed the ratification for the Paris Accord by Turkey as a step that will contribute to global efforts to combat the climate crisis.

A statement attached to the text agreed to by the Turkish Parliament on Wednesday said Ankara would implement the landmark climate agreement as a “developing country” despite it being listed as an annex to the UN convention.
