But Greenpeace, a campaign organisation, said Australia’s commitments to the Paris accord were currently “very weak” and that it was the only developed economy not improving its emissions goals set in the 2015 agreement.
In correspondence on Wednesday, Greenpeace UK said senior ministers, Liz Truss, David Frost and Kwasi Kwarteng,”agree” to delete references to temperatures commitments in the Paris climate agreement in order to “override” Australia’s trade agreement.
The 12-day event will take place in Glasgow in November and is being hailed as a key step in the global effort to set new emissions targets to prevent out of control climate change.
Australia has not set a net-zero emission target and remains a major fossil fuel exporter.
