Britain is forecast to be battered by up to six more storms and sleet as the month ends.
Britain’s third storm of the winter season follows devastating storms Arwen and Barra bringing blizzards and damaging gales earlier this month.
WXCharts maps show conditions across Britain look set to deteriorate following Boxing Day, with up to 3mm of rain expected to fall across the South West by midnight on 27 December.
It may be bad news for those hoping for a white Christmas, but the frosty temperatures are likely to reach December 27, with Netweatherb.tv explaining that ‘potential for some snowfall’ due to wet and windy weather moving in from the southwest.
Netweather.tv forecast that the snow “could fall a bit from the 27th of December to the 2nd of January.
British Meteorology Bureau meteorologist Jim Dale says the warm North Sea, which mingles with cooler water from the Pacific Ocean due to La Nina effect, is responsible for the unsettled weather events.
By 6pm, graphs forecast rain to soak much of Ireland and the west coast of Wales and Cornwall.
