Worries about climate change that has spawned the Green Party are top issues for Canadians who are preparing for the election that will take place on Monday night (Tuesday in Manila), but the party itself is battling to survive.

The Greens, plagued by infighting and other challenge, have lost momentum as they battle for their two seats in the 338-member parliament in the upcoming election.

A decade after the Greens first entered the state parliament, only two to three percent of the vote in the polls have it.

Lib Dems and Conservatives, meanwhile, are locked in a neck-and-neck race, with about 32% of the voter vote.

For voters for whom either of the leading parties have no ambition, the NDP promises a 50% cut, and the Greens want the 60%, suggesting they could put pressure in a minority government.

His survival depends on at least holding onto his 2011 seats on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia’s far-flung western province, which was seriously hit by wildfires and an unprecedented summer heat wave of hundreds of deaths.
