Storm Barra moved in from the west on Tuesday and the west coast of Wales, and south-west England, will have a yellow weather warning between midnight and 6pm on Wednesday.

Where in Britain have flood warnings

The Environment Agency has issued 11 flood alerts for England, including in Hartlepool and Sunderland to the north-west, Bournemouth and Weymouth in the south and Part of Cumbria’s coast.

In addition, 66 flood warnings have been issued nationwide for areas potentially flooded.

Gale force winds and blizzards caused chaos in Aberdaron in Gwynedd on Tuesday with wind gusts of up to 85mph-with some 3.200 homes in the north-east of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales left without power.

Thousands of homes have been without power for up to 10 days after torrential downpours and eye-lashing winds of 100 miles per hour lashed the country toward the end of November.
