Temperatures will fall across the country as UK faces a ‘major weather turnaround’ for some time to come, forecasters warn.
In a tweet today, the Met Office said: ‘It has been a mild winter so far but a big shift is imminent as the week goes on as we bid farewell to the mild conditions that most places have today as much colder Arctic air streams out to the south over all areas, some of us may actually see some snow by Friday.’
The forecast of cooler weather comes after Britain saw its third sweltering January on record.
It comes hours after 1.900 people in Aberdeenshire were still without power after 60mph winds from Storm Malik and Corrie last weekend at 9am but they are all expected back up to the grid by this evening.
Snow could blankard the ground by Friday after Britain is bracing itself for a cold front on Thursday.
Minimum temperatures overnight tonight will be more typical of what we expect to see in the daytime at this time of the year
A little colder than these temperatures suggest in the countryside, but another #mild and frost free night for almost all of us 📈 pic.twitter.com/OJYuVrlQBc

Storms Ciara, Dennis and Jorge helped make February 2020 the wettest February on record, as well as the fourth wettest calendar month.
