A report by the U.N. Meteorological Agency notes that large parts of the world are unprepared for floods, hurricanes, and droughts due to climate change.
According to the report by the United Nations World Meteorological Organisation, development agencies, and other groups, the need for better finance and coordination of water management issues between countries is also important.
According to the report, the number of people with insufficient access to water will rise to over 5 billion by 2050. As the population increases, it will be 3.6 billion in 2018.
Measures advocated in this report included improved warning systems for areas prone to flooding and drought, for instance, to spot when the Paraguay River is expected to swell.
The report calls for better co-ordination between countries in the field of global water management.
