The Armed Forces published on Tuesday the first strategy outlined by the US military for adapting to changing world climate, setting out plans to halve greenhouse gas pollution by 2030 and achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
As part of the strategy, the army plans to have a micro-grid installed at its facilities by 2035, with a non-tactical fleet of vehicles by 2035.
Development of possibilities to reduce direct greenhouse gas emissions originating with military training by 2028.
The Defense Department warned last year that climate change poses a significant threat to the United States “military operations, creating new sources of global political conflict.
