Massive New Mexico wildfires threaten to force more evacuations.

Hundreds of homes in a historic town on the foothills of the Rockies were instantly evacuated when the Calf Canyon Wildfire raged on the outskirts, fueled by strong winds and bone-dry conditions.

The Hermitage Fire started on the 6th of April and has followed the Calf Canyon Fire, which started at the end of April.

According to federal forestry officials in New Mexico, the Calf Canyon Wildwildfire has charred more than 41,682 acres (42.677 hectares), or over half the size of New York City, as of Monday morning.
