The summit hosted by the United Kingdom has been described as the world’s “last chance” to avert global warming to dangerous levels.
But environmentalists say lobbying behind the scenes ahead of the summit could hamper efforts to achieve an ambitious deal that makes sure that the world has a chance of limiting global warming to 1.5 Celsius as agreed in Paris in 2015.
The leader of environmental group Greenpeace on Thursday warned countries and business groups at the forthcoming UN climate talks in Glasgow of moves to “greenwash” persistent global pollution.

The summit hosted by the UK was described as’ the last best chance ‘to prevent global warming from becoming dangerous, and there are expected to be a flurry of new obligations from governments and companies to cut their greenhouse gas emissions.
