The latest contributions are on top of the $791m Jeff Bezos gave for his Earth Fund last year to 16 organisations as part of his $10 billion commitment to combat climate change.

The 44 grants announced Monday will give $130 million to the Justice40 Initiative, an attempt by the administration of President Joe Biden to tackle climate change and help marginalized communities.

Bezos has pledged to pay the full amount by 2030.

Bezos is worth $195 billion, mainly through his Amazon share, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

An additional $261 million is available for a plan.
