Schoolchildren in a northern New Mexico community threatened with decade-long drought, warmer temperatures and spring winds resumed teaching Tuesday while residents on the northern and southern borders of the fire remained under evacuation orders.
The West Las Vegas School District said it will exempt students still displaced by the largest wildfire in the United States or their health affected by the smoke.
Meanwhile, firefighters worked in rough terrain to put out the massive blaze and prevent the blaze from further burning down homes in the Rocky Mountains
The wildfire has burned nearly 300 buildings including houses since blazing last month and claimed roughly 2.700 lives.
