The partnership agreement has been signed by Jared Blumenfeld, Secretary of California’s Environmental Protection Agency, and Jeremy Clarke-Watson, New Zealand Consul General to Los Angeles.
“The memorandum of understanding states that the two governments can undertake joint projects to expand agricultural practices, advance soil health, reduce methane emissions, and increase water efficiency.
Ardern said her government would discuss programs including incentives for people to get rid of older, fuel-guzzling cars with California lawmakers.
The deal was discussed and announced by Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.
