General Antonio Guterres warned that the world is headed in the wrong direction and is approaching a decisive moment, in which carrying on as before may lead to a collapse of the world order and a future of permanent crisis.

United Nations, 11 September: UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres unveiled the Joint Agenda on Friday, a groundbreaking new report that lays out his vision for the future of global collaboration and introduces “multilateralism with teeth.” to the United Nations 2.0 era.
Guterres said there are ‘no guarantees’ as to what the talks will reveal, but discussions are necessary ‘if we want Afghanistan not to be a center of terrorism, if we want women and girls to not lose all the rights acquired during the previous period, if we want different ethnic groups to be able to feel represented.’.
The report proposes Two conflicting scenarios of the future: one of collapse and prolonged crisis, and another that proposes a breakthrough to a greener and safer future.
