Glasgow has been hit by flood waters barely a few days ahead of the climate summit.
The Met Office has issued a life-threatening flood warning and severe weather alerts have been put effect for rain in the North West and the South West of Scotland.
The alerts also warn of the possible damage to homes and businesses caused by flooding, hazardous journey conditions and travel disruption.
Up to 300mm (59in) is expected to fall in parts of the area, typically down to 160mm (55in) in October.
‘The rainfall total is much higher than the average rainfall for this time of year, definitely, and in general, for any time of year it’s a lot of rainfall in a short period of time,’ she told PA news agency.
Communities could be cut off from the outside world and could face power cuts as a result of flooded road closures, the Met Office has said.
