Extreme cold, gales, snowfall and arctic runoff warnings blanketed much of British Columbia this morning.
A winter storm warning for the Nicola region is in place for major snowfalls. Dangerous conditions are expected on the coquihalla Highway from Hope to Kamloops, the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna and Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton.
Ten to 20 centimetres should fall in the region.
Wind chills are expected to be in the region (minus 40 to minus 50) in these regions.
Heavy snow fall will begin tonight and will last until Thursday morning, before subsuming by the afternoon.
A risk of freezing rain is also expected in Fraser Valley.
Scores of inches of wet snow fell in the downtown Vancouver area on Tuesday afternoon slowing commuter traffic, but there is still more to come.
Yet another BIG winter storm is set to arrive for Wednesday night (Jan5/21) into Thursday! 10-30 cm of snow will fall along the coast & southwestern interior making travel challenging.
