A major winter storm is expected to hit much of the eastern US over the weekend, with a host of weather threats to those areas, including heavy snow and heavy thunderstorms.
The storm is expected to pass between the I-95 corridor and Cape Cod, then along or off the Maine coast, with lows of less than 970 degrees Fahrenheit, the National Weather Service in Boston said.
The clearest amounts of snow are likely in parts of the Inner Northwest, where totals of more than 12 inches are likely.
The storm’s worst storm is set to hit indoors through Saturday, according to forecasts late Friday.
‘A fast-moving and rapidly strengthening storm will bring intense weather and dramatic weather changes to the eastern half of the nation, with the most extremes in store for the Northeast,’ AccuWeather’ s chief meteorologist Dave Dombek said.
Snow totals of more than 12 centimeters are expected in those areas leading to power outages that could cause tailpipes to melt.

Easy to be lulled into security…
The snow today came in a little underdone, and the roads were mostly pretty safe due to treatment and the high sun angle keeping the ice melted.
The sun is gone and the snow has picked up again. Roads will be a mess going into Friday morning.
