A bushfire caused residents to evacuate south of the western Australian city of Margaret River on Wednesday, December 8.
The national park and campsites including Conto, Point Road and Boranup were closed.
The fire broke out near the Crossing Caves Road and Calgarup Road in Boranup, nearly 300km south of Perth.
A number of roads were shut, including Caves Road, from Redgate Road junction to Boranup Drive, south and Forest Grove, east.
The Disaster Mitigation Authority issued a threat warning late Wednesday for the Leeuwin-Naturaliste region, which is located on the floodplain of Augusta-Margaret River.
Tourist attractions such as the Calgardup Cave and Giants Cave were also closed down for the second consecutive day.
‘If the way is clear, leave now for a safer place.’ The emergency services said the fire had escalated as the vehicle was covered with heavy fuel charges.
He said fires were currently blazing on both sides of Caves Road.
